Nils Aas

Nils Aas (b.1933-d.2004) was one of Norway's foremost sculptors. He has made several memorials of historical figures around the country, including the distinctive statue of Haakon VII in the June 7 square in front of the Foreign Ministry in Oslo. Nils Aas also mint several of our coins: the 20 and 10 crowns with motifs from Viking ships and stave church on one side, and King Harald on the other.
