Bjarne Melgaard
Bjarne Melgaard is one of Norway’s most internationally renowned visual artists. He is known globally for his expressive paintings, installations, photography and video artwork in which the artistic principle has been the culture surrounding black metal music and the gay S/M scene.
Melgaard’s art can be perceived as provocative and imposing, which has resulted in his art being vandalized, reported to the police and censored. Melgaard studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
